Timeline of the United States’ Constitutional Law

Reaching back to the documents that influenced the original drafting of the Constitution of the United States, such as the Magna Carta and the 1689 English Bill of Rights, this interactive map traces the development of constitutional law in America through to the present day, including the original adoption of each of the nation’s state constitutions, landmark legal rulings, and key historical events. From the drafting of the original seven articles of the constitution in 1787 to the 27 amendments that have been ratified, the timeline also covers other essential documents, such as the constitutions of each of the 50 states and selected landmark Supreme Court cases, without which any history of US constitutional law would be incomplete.
